Cool Pool
|
The use of a “Cool Pool” solution results in the
improved distribution of the cooling capacity generated
by the perimeter units by routing the air flow to the
intake section of the racks.
Fundamentally, this configuration is obtained by
physically separating the hot and cold air flows within
the data centre.
The cold aisle is shut off by using lateral access doors
and a transparent roof between the rows of racks. The
cold air which is generated by the conditioning units is
made available to the intake section of the server
through the perforated floor panels in the cold aisle.
This configuration avoids problems arising from the
recycling of hot air which may lead to unwanted
superheating of the racks. It also allows more accurate
sizing of the conditioning system, therefore creating
significant energy savings.
The Cool Pool is a simple and effective solution which
offers the possibility of a modular approach, meaning
that over time it is possible to increase the number of
racks by row, adjusting to new configurations with ease.
The use of access doors represents an important safety
precaution.
The Cool Pool allows heat loads up to 15 kW per rack to
be controlled (and even more if combined with an Active
Floor), generating a homogeneous volume of cold air at a
constant temperature from the bottom to the top of the
rack.
